The Story Behind Killer Heels Comfort
Our Mission
At Killer Heels Comfort, our mission is simple yet transformative: to enable every woman and man to wear high heels comfortably, confidently, and safely—no matter the heel height or shoe style. We combine ergonomic design, premium PORON® foam, and patented innovation to solve a problem that has plagued heel-wearers for decades: painful ball-of-foot pressure, forward slide, and heel gap instability. Deliver Unmatched High Heel Comfort:
Replace bulky, ineffective insoles with slim, targeted inserts that cradle the ball and arch of the foot without crowding your shoe. Prevent Forward Slide & Heel Gaps: Eliminate the wobble, blisters, and fatigue caused by gravity pulling your foot down an inclined ramp inside a heel.
Empower Confidence: Let you focus on walking, standing, and dancing—whether in pumps, stilettos, sandals, or boots—without stopping to adjust or endure pain.
Meet the Inventor
Virve Georgeson — lawyer, artist, and lifelong tinkerer — blended her legal career in Ottawa with a passion for design and engineering to tackle one of fashion’s oldest challenges: painful high heels.
Legal Insight & Attention to Detail:function and innovation.
A lifelong artist and builder, Virve sketched dozens of ergonomic insert blueprints, turning complex foot‐anatomy insights into sleek, practical designs.
She personally tested every prototype in her “inspiration boots” and enlisted colleagues, friends, and family to provide real-world feedback—refining each iteration for maximum high heel comfort.
“As soon as I felt my first PORON® prototype hold my foot firmly in place, I knew I’d found a better way. High heels aren’t just fashion; they’re an experience—and they deserve to be pain-free.”
Inspiration & Problem
While articling in 2007, Virve purchased a pair of snug-fitting, 4"-heel boots—her so-called “inspiration boots.” Reality hit as soon as she stepped onto the courthouse floor:
Traditional foam or gel insoles did not cushion precisely where a heel wearer needs it most—under the ball of the foot—leading to burning pain after minutes of wear. Gravity and foot slippage down the steep ramp interior caused toes to pinch against the toe box, resulting in painful “toes overhang.”
Standard insoles failed to hold the heel securely in place, causing blisters and wobbling with every step.
¾-length or full insole inserts often created too much bulk, altering the shoe’s fit and pitch, and ultimately failing to stop foot movement.
Virve’s Realization: No existing product combined targeted ball-of-foot cushioning, heel stability, and slim form factor—leaving 50% of the high heel comfort problem unaddressed. Determined, she thought:
“There has to be a better way.”
Innovation & Design
In June 2009, Virve’s first proof-of-concept prototype—crafted from cereal-box board and packing foam—confirmed that two discrete “stoppers” at the ball and arch of the foot could lock the foot into place. From that point on, hundreds of iterations followed using materials ranging from neoprene and latex to silicone gel. The final breakthrough came with PORON® polyurethane foam, renowned for its: PORON® rebounds instantly under pressure, providing long-lasting shock absorption. At just a few millimeters thick, PORON® fits into narrow toe boxes and snug-fitting heels without crowding or elevating the foot excessively. PORON® retains its structure and cushioning for 6+ months of daily high heel wear. Key Design Features: Ergonomic Footprint: Two separate inserts mimic the foot’s natural depressions under the ball and arch. The ball-of-foot cushion has a small “button” for targeted support at the point of greatest pressure, eliminating pinching and burning. Raised Ridge: A subtle crosswise ridge under the middle three toes acts as a “toe grip,” preventing downward slide. Allows the big toe and little toe to maintain full propulsion and balance, preserving a natural gait. Slim Profile: Each insert is only 2–3 mm thick, ensuring it remains invisible underfoot. Adapts to any heel height (2"–5"+) and any shoe style: pumps, strappy sandals, stilettos, boots, and even athletic shoes (for the forefoot pad). Custom-Fit Adhesion: Temporary Adhesive Squares allow precise placement during trial runs to mark the ideal position. Permanent Pressure-Sensitive Tape locks the insert in place once the perfect fit is determined, ensuring zero slip—ever.

How Killer Heels Comfort Works
Clean & Map Your Shoe: Wipe your insole with a dry cloth. Place your foot inside and mark the ball and arch locations with a pencil dot. Apply Temporary Adhesive Squares: Remove half of the protective film. Position the forefoot and arch inserts under your foot, ensuring the raised ridge aligns beneath your middle three toes. Stand and walk briefly to confirm comfort and stability. Adjust as needed. Lock In with Permanent Tape: Once placement is perfect, peel away the remaining protective film and press the inserts firmly into place. Walk for several minutes to activate the pressure-sensitive bond.
Why Choose Killer Heels Comfort?
Superior Ball-of-Foot Cushioning: PORON® foam never flattens, providing consistent comfort and shock absorption. Targeted “button” relieves painful pressure points common in high-heeled footwear. 360° Foot Stabilization: Raised ridge stops forward and lateral slide—no pinched toes, no blisters, no wobbling. Arch pad shifts weight back onto the heel, redistributing downward force and minimizing fatigue. Slim, Invisible Profile: At only 2–3 mm thickness, our inserts nestle into the shoe’s existing contours, leaving shoe pitch and fit unaltered. Unlike bulky ¾-length insoles, our two-piece design works with narrow toe boxes, open sandals, stilettos, and boots. Custom-Fit Versatility: Reusable temporary squares let you fine-tune placement across multiple pairs. Permanent tape ensures the insert never moves—no re-adjusting mid-day. Durable, Long-Lasting Wear: Enjoy up to 6 months of daily use (sometimes up to 12 months for infrequent wearers). Replaceable adhesive squares extend the life of your inserts if you prefer to switch shoes often. Canadian-Made Quality Precision-cut by P.N. Farrar Inc. in Quebec. Assembled, inspected, and shipped from Ottawa. Supports local manufacturing and eco-friendly packaging.
A Note from Virve
Growing up on a Northern Ontario farm in a Finnish-Estonian immigrant family, I learned to solve problems with creativity and resourcefulness. When I’m not refining our inserts, you’ll find me kayaking, woodworking, or spending time with my family in Ottawa.
